Kanaan was described as the place with the most diverse photogenic sceneries in Namibia by Sakkie Rothmann, author of official Namibia Tourism Board publications.

Ideally located in the core of the D707 road that is called the most scenic route in Namibia that forms part of the main tourist route between Sossusvlei and the southwestern part of Namibia.

With its breathtaking scenery and its view over the Namib Desert, it is the perfect destination or stopover for guests. The real highlights on Farm Kanaan for the guests is definitely a farm drive of more than 50 km for 3-4 hours in the early morning or doing a sun downer Farm Drive on the majestic dunes and Tiras Mountains in the afternoon. This Farm Drive is also described as a photographer’s dream experience…

The old farm house of the host’s, Hermi & Marlene Strauss’s grandparents was transformed by them into a unique modern architecture guesthouse with only 4 double en suite bedrooms, decorated minimalist - like the desert surrounding it… Less becomes more…and more…

Your hosts also bear amongst others the titles of: chief bottle washer and cook. Typical farm style food prepared by them is enjoyed by old fashioned oil lanterns at night.

Ideal gelegen in der Mitte der D707, der landschaftlich reizvollsten Strecke in Namibia . Die D707 ist Teil der Touristischen Hauptverbindungsroute zwischen Sossusvlei und dem südwestlichen Namibia.

Mit seinen atemberaubenden Landschaften und dem wunderbarem Blick über die Namibwüste ist Kanaan das perfekte Ziel für einen kürzeren oder längeren Aufenthalt.

Die absoluten Höhepunkte für die Gäste sind zweifellos eine Farmrundfahrt über mehr als 50 km für ca. 3-4 Stunden am frühen Morgen oder eine „Sundownerfahrt“ auf die majestätischen Dünen und zu den Tirasbergen am nachmittag. Diese Farmrundfahrten sind für Fotografen traumhaft schöne Erfahrungen.

Das von unseren Großeltern errichtete alte Farmhaus haben wir, Hermi und Marlene Strauß, unter einzigartigen, modernen architektonischen Gesichtspunkten zu einem Gasthaus mit nur 4 Doppelzimmern, jedes mit eigenem Bad, umgebaut. Die Dekoration der Räume orientiert sich an der umgebenden Wüste…weniger ist mehr….und mehr…

Neben anderen Titeln tragen wir den des „Haupttellerwäschers und des Chefkochs“. Wir servieren Ihnen typische, frisch zubereitete Farmmahlzeiten, welche abends gemeinsam in stimmungsvollem Licht der altmodischen Öllampen genossen werden.

Wir sind der Überzeugung, dass ein Fremder nur ein Freund ist, den man noch nicht kennen gelernt hat………und garantieren Ihnen persönliche Betreuung und konkurrenzlose Gastfreundschaft.

Sie bekommen auch einen Einblick in das wirkliche namibische Leben durch die Augen der Menschen, die in und von dieser Wüstenlandschaft leben.
